The spirited words of Peter Debruge are on display in his latest brilliant piece, “Film Review: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”.

In the poignant opening paragraph, Deburge strikes a chord with a commentary on the modern studio tactics of Hollywood. Through the use of tight and crisp phrasing, the critic pokes fun at the general content of the film, and the idea that food can be brought to life in various forms. The minds of children will undoubtedly be stimulated, but what is the end result?

Debruge notes how the sequel must be expecting a big audience as the jokes point back to the sequel, which was a prelude for the monstrosity of over-the-top antics which are prevalent in the follow-up.

The ego of the main character is jabbed by Debruge who questions the intentions of the inventor after what took place in the original film. The critic points out numerous flaws that are not only out of touch with the original book, but are hypocritical, in general.

Review: Cloudy by Peter Debruge is a biting look at the always-evolving gonzo tactics of Hollywood, but in the end, the critic understands the entertainment value and is fair with his sharp-witted criticism.
