Linda Cook Forgets to Start the Microwave in “Just Gives Leftovers”

In response to Linda Cook’s 409‑word review of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 on Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)

Linda Cook essentially offers leftovers in, “Meatballs sequel just gives leftovers.” Lack of content, imagination and excitement will leave the reader going to bed hungry.

Just Gives Leftovers begins with the general, overused food pun that are boring, and will surely fail to hook most readers.

The atrocity that is Just Gives Leftovers takes the viewer through four dreadful paragraphs in which the plot is explained without any heart, style or energy. One can find this knowledge anywhere, and Cook appears oblivious to the needs of her loyal readers.

In the brutal final paragraphs of Just Gives Leftovers, Cook at least offers some personal opinion, but once again the content is mundane and fails to capture the fun of the film. To be fair, it is not necessary to make one laugh, but if a review is to be engaging and informative then the critic must try harder than Cook did here.

To make matters worse, Cook fails to acknowledge the directors by name in Just Gives Leftovers, and closes out with essentially the same food pun that opened the uninspired piece.

Just Gives Leftovers shows little care for the interests of the readers, and uses puns that reflect the style of the review.
