Nell Minow’s “Kick-Ass 2” has a few warnings to give the readers with regard to this flick. She has a tidy chart in the beginning that lays it all out for the reader to see before even reading the review. Also known as the “Movie Mom”, Minow lists just about every aspect that a parent may want to read before seeing a movie.

While parents are presumed to be her main audience, the system works for the non-parent readers as well. Some people just don’t like certain things and this gives them the head’s up that they may need/want.

The review of the movie itself follows the chart. Some may be expecting a more reserved, clean review from this self-proclaimed movie mom but actually she tackles this film head on. There are some great descriptive sequences that make this more of a “hip mom” piece. What teenager would be embarrassed to be seen in public with a mom who goes to see Kick-Ass 2?

She makes her observations with a tinge of humor that gives this piece a great readability factor until the end. She ends with not only a final word of advice to her fellow parents, but also includes some potential questions for a “family discussion”. May not be needed for some but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt to offer it to a reader who may get some use out of it.
