JimmyO’S “Hobbit” Wanders Aimlessly

In response to JimmyO’s 1066‑word review of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug on JoBlo's Movie Emporium

If JimmyO’s “Review: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” were a Hobbit on a quest, it would still be out there somewhere, meandering around in a pointless search for Sauron’s long forgotten Ring of Literary Flow.

The piece starts, as always, with a rundown of the plot in a section conveniently named “PLOT.” You might be led to believe that this would be the only rehashing since it was given its own section, but, remember, you are an idiot. This preliminary summarizing is just the prelude to the summarizing which occurs later on in the dubiously named section “REVIEW.”

The prose employed here by O couldn’t explain its way out of a paper bag (yes, that makes no sense—prose can’t fit in a paper bag!). It has all the clarity of Mt. Doom on a cloudy day and readers are liable to get whiplash from its incessant lurching as Mr. O can’t quite decide what to talk about next or how to transition between his many thoughts (though all indicators indicate that O’s brain must be a pretty fun place to be).

There is good content here to be sure, but it gets too lost in the fray to be of use to anyone.
