“Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” by Steve Davis Is Lazy and Lackluster

The latest unimaginative and uninspired work from Steve Davis, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2”, reads like every other boring review minus the names of the actual people involved.

The opening paragraph of Chance of Meatballs has everything that one would expect from a carbon copy review: lame food puns, Jurassic Park references and dull writing. There is nothing new here and the opening sentence can be found anywhere. Davis fails to hook the reader and provide something of value in the traumatic open.

Chance of Meatballs moves on with a look at the characters. Davis succeeds in describing what they do, but not what they look like. Visuals are key for the reader, especially when dealing with animation, but Davis refrains from capturing their attention with descriptive words or wit. Once again, the content of the second paragraph can be found anywhere.

Perhaps the most unforgivable error of Chance of Meatballs is the critic’s failure to recognize anyone involved with the production of the film. An inclusion of at least one human name would provide the reader with some context. Three former cast members of Saturday Night Live are in the cast but you wouldn’t know by reading this review.
