John Serba’s “Review: ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ is hyperkinetic insane-imation” is a deliciously fun read with lots of whatsits and paronomasia. Serba fell into the trap of this candied thingamajig of a movie, just as the reader will be baited by his watermelephant writing style.
Audiences will feel as though they’ve entered a new Dr. Seuss book with this review, and Serba does a wonderfully wacky job of pulling-off and following-through with this unique tone. The review is chock-full of verbal fanfare, funniness, and a few dashes of fair criticism. The reader also gets the background feel of the first movie in this franchise with Serba’s review.
It’s like a gummy-bear-latte with french fry legs that leaves the reader happily skipping along with one-liners and imaginative gadgets zinging around the head. Just when it looks like one of those whatchamacallits are going to hit the audience, the made-up words get seamlessly balanced by adult, grammatically correct language.
While Serba isn’t sure he fully enjoyed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, due to the entertainment he passes on, the reader feels certain that he did. The vibrancy of this review is nothing short of a bright sunny day, and it’s sure to make audiences laugh and smile.
